Durban, South Africa. The Power24 International Film Festival has partnered with two leading institutions, AFDA (The School for the Creative Economy) and KwaMashu Community Advancement Projects (KCAP), to provide a unique platform for skills development and inclusivity in the arts.

As part of this groundbreaking collaboration, 45 students from AFDA and KCAP will be integrated into the crew and performances of the upcoming festival, which takes place from 22–24 August 2025 at the Southern Sun Garden Court, Marine Parade, Durban.

Empowering the Next Generation

The initiative will allow students to gain hands-on experience by engaging with international filmmakers, producers, and audiences during masterclasses, festival sessions, awards preparations, and live executions.

“KCAP has long nurtured some of Durban’s finest performers from disadvantaged communities, while AFDA equips emerging filmmakers with world-class production skills,” said a festival spokesperson. “Bringing them into the Power24 Festival not only advances their professional journeys but also aligns perfectly with our vision of inclusivity and empowerment.”

Inclusive Awards Ceremony

The Power24 Awards Ceremony promises to be a spectacular highlight of the three-day event. Kicking off with a red carpet at 17h30, the glittering evening will blend cinematic excellence with vibrant live performances.

In keeping with the festival’s inclusive ethos, personalities with disabilities will also feature in some of the performances, showcasing their talent through music, dance, and spoken word. These acts will celebrate diversity and reinforce Power24’s commitment to being Africa’s premier disability-inclusive film festival.
