Power 24 IFF 2025

The Power24 International Film Festival (Power24 IFF) will conclude its 2025 edition with a glamorous Awards Night on Saturday, 23 August 2025, at the luxurious Southern Sun Marine Parade, Durban. This red‐carpet celebration will begin at 17:30 and promises an evening of cinematic excellence, live entertainment, and global recognition.

This year’s ceremony will feature 27 distinguished awards, honouring outstanding achievements in filmmaking from across the world, with a special emphasis on inclusivity, accessibility, and representation. The night will be a platform to celebrate stories that inspire, challenge, and connect people from all walks of life.

A Legacy of Honouring Excellence

In 2024, the festival proudly presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Shakila Maharaj for her pioneering work in developing audio‐visual films for people who are blind, setting a high benchmark for innovation and accessibility in cinema.

Building on this tradition, Power24 IFF has introduced three exciting new award categories for 2025:

The Green Hand Award – Recognising exceptional storytelling that promotes nature conservation and addresses the urgent issue of global warming.

The Special Jury Award – Honouring a filmmaker whose artistry and vision stand out for their creativity, originality, and impact.

The Best Film for 2025 – The festival’s most prestigious accolade, celebrating cinematic excellence in storytelling, technical mastery, and cultural relevance.

An Evening of Entertainment & Inspiration

Guests can look forward to a breathtaking line‐up of live performances, adding vibrance and cultural richness to the awards ceremony. Filmmakers, actors, industry leaders, and international guests will grace the red carpet, making it a night to remember for both the film industry and audiences..

A Festival with a Purpose

The Power24 International Film Festival remains the first of its kind in Africa, championing filmmakers from vulnerable and underrepresented sectors, including those living with disabilities, women in film, youth creators, rural communities, and indigenous storytellers.

β€œThe Power24 IFF Awards Night is not just about celebrating films – it’s about celebrating the voices that are too often unheard, the stories that need to be told, and the creative spirit that unites us all,” said [Insert Festival Director’s Name], Festival Director.
